The local unit of government must establish a permit procedure in compliance with IC 5-28-28.5-7 to be certified as a Broadband Ready Community.
Please upload supporting documentation (e.g., ordinance or resolution) at the end of this application that shows the following statutory requirements have been met:
- Single point of contact for all matters related to a broadband project.
- All applications related to a project will be reviewed and either approved or rejected within ten (10) business days after an application is submitted.
- All inspections, including necessary approvals, related to a project will occur in a timely and expeditious manner.
- All forms, applications, and documentation related to a project can be filed and signed by electronic means.
- The permit procedure does not require an applicant to designate a final contractor to complete a project.
- The permit procedure does not impose a fee to review an application or issue a permit for a project.
- The permit procedure does not impose a seasonal moratorium on the issuance of permits for a project.
- The permit procedure prohibits discrimination among communications service providers or utilities with respect to a project, including granting access to public rights-of-way, infrastructure and poles, river and bridge crossings, and any other physical assets owned or controlled by the Applicant.
A certified broadband ready community has an affirmative duty to notify the IEDC of any changes to the information submitted as part of this application. Failure to notify the IEDC of such changes may result in revocation of the community’s broadband ready certification.
